1. Homepage Collections Searching

From the homepage, you will see three search buttons. The "Keyword Search" toward the top under "State Government Digital Collections," will take you to a Google Custom Search page where you can search by keywords. If you click on "Browse All," you will go to a list of all items in the Digital Prairie collections, and a search bar in the top right corner will search all collections. If you click on a collection image, it will take you to the collection's "About" page. Or if you click on the "Search Collection" button under the image, you will go directly to the collection's "Browse All" page where can look through all the items or conduct a search within that specific collection. If you click on the "Advanced Search" button, you will go to the search page to narrow down your results.

Once the results appear, you can use options on the left side of the page to view results for specific subjects, locations, agencies, formats and other categories within that collection.

Advanced Search

You will notice an "Advanced Search" option. You will choose which collection(s) you want to search and click save. Then you can search by title, subject, description, creator, publisher, and date. Narrow down your search results by choosing whether your search terms should include all the words, any of the words, exact phrase or none of the words. Click to add another field to narrow your search by cross-referencing multiple terms. You also have the option to narrow your search by date.

Search EBSCO

To search EBSCO, click Research & Discovery in the top menu. It will take you to the Research & Discovery main search interface page. There you will find several categories for research. If you click on the Preschool-12th image or student search link, it will take you to EBSCOhost searches that are specifically designed for those age groups. Also in the student section, see links to Explora for each age group.

The other links and categories on the main Research & Discovery page focus around EBSCO references. You will notice various topics available for your research. Each link will take you to a search interface or a specialized search category.
